ASC-CDL Support in LiveGrade

ASC-CDL Support in LiveGrade

The lastest version of Pomfort's excellent software for realtime color correction and LUT building now has support for both ASC-CDL and custom 3D LUT for log to video conversion. ASC-CDL is the industry standard format for exchanging primary color grading information between software to software, hardware to software, or any combination of the two regardless of manufacturer. The addition of this functionality to LiveGrade removes the limitation of it only being useful on shows where CDL isn't required. For most productions where digital color is being done both on set and in post, CDL is the only acceptable way to communicate color decisions from party to party as it's the least destructive in terms of being able to build on top of existing corrections.

I'm just digging into this update so will be posting more as I've had to chance to test.

In the meantime, here's some info about the new features from Pomfort -

Cub-o-Scope 3D LUT Visualization Tool. Amazing! I've been wanting something like this forever. The cube in this video is the basic Arri Log to 709 Look Up.

LiveGrade to Scratch Lab

LiveGrade to Scratch Lab

Pomfort has added a native Scratch .3dl LUT output to LiveGrade. This LUT lines up in Scratch for color corrected file outputs very nicely. This is an outstanding workflow for generating dailies on commercial projects. Anything you would ever need to do for file generation you can do in Scratch and LiveGrade is a very fast and seamless way to generate LUT's for this software. Using the Avid Artist Control Surface with this software combo has sped me up considerably and closed a lot of the previous workflow gaps.
